You see, it’s a special day for my family. Not just because my dad, David Simon, has made it another year around the sun…but because he’s still here.

And there’s so much to be gained from a paradoxical situation like this: Beauty and pain. Intimacy and surrender. Love and forgiveness. Life and death.
