Is Anyone Reading Your Blog?
Exposing yourself to thousands of people is an art…
- How could more Facebook engagement expand your reach?
- Could your list use a few more loyal readers?
- Would you love to write emails that people look forward to reading?
No matter what industry you are in there are going to be many popular blogs that cover similar topics…
We want you to stand out. Knowing how to spark that personal connection with your tribe is key.
It’s one thing to write authentically. It’s another to package that content in a way that gains the most social media exposure.
Today’s Big Vision expert Charu Morgan shares how to build your audience and gain massive loyalty with a simple writing strategy…
BVB: Charu, what’s working for you right now?
Charu: Writing really personal, exposing blogs that people are following, and then sharing. Then using those blog posts and cutting them into pieces, then sharing them on Facebook. People are sharing extensively and it’s expanding my reach.
BVB: And what specific results are you seeing from this?
Charu: People are opting into more programs, I have more traffic coming in from Facebook, where I am having more engagement.
It’s very steady. It’s building my foundations.
Also, I am starting to have more of a celebrity status. Everywhere I go now, there are people that are on my list that tell me that mine is one of the only email lists they have stayed on, and they actually read every single thing I send. My open rates never waver. My readers are my readers, they’re very consistent.
There is a huge momentum from that.
BVB: Why do you think this strategy is working for you?
Charu: I feel like people are really tired of false gurus that say they have all the answers. We are coming out of the age where if you are an expert in something you had to pretend like you had no Achilles heal.
And there have been all these downfalls where people can’t hold up this image that they wanted the public to see.
And I think that when people feel like you are writing something real, they are so hungry for that, and it’s so refreshing to them, that they’re more willing to trust.
It’s true that I know so much about tools to help navigate partnerships, and living more authentically, and having a great sex life.
When I say, “Guess what, even I don’t have it all together, here are some of the challenges I am going through,” it gives people permission to be more human.
It helps them relax in their bodies, they think “Wait a minute, I don’t have to have it all together. She’s just exploring too, and she has tools that are helping her through it. And I can get on board with those tools.”
BVB: So your niche is tantra, and it’s pretty ripe for juicy content. How can someone use this strategy, even if their niche is Facebook marketing? What are the steps?
Charu: I got great advice from an info marketer, who told me to write honest, authentic things to my audience. I took it and ran with it, and it doubled my business.
So here are three steps that anyone can follow, even if they are an info or Facebook marketer, and not a tantra coach.
- Think about what you would be excited to tell your best friend about today. What’s the story? Find the place where your life integrates with your work, and tap into the excitement of that. Then write like you are writing to your best friend.
- Write when you are inspired. Often I would find myself inspired and then saying “No Charu, you’re at the beach, this is your day off.” And then I would go to write the next day, and the inspiration wasn’t there. So now I make sure there is always something accessible, like the recorder on my phone, or the notebook near my bed, to make sure I can flow from inspiration.
- Having great articles people can connect to is amazing, but the big tip that’s super important is chopping up the articles, and putting them on Facebook. Some of them should have links to the articles, and some of them should not.
The week I write the article I can have anywhere between 5-20 short clips from that article, and that becomes a great reason to visit my page. If you just share the article, sometimes they only see the title, or the first few sentences, and that may not be the part that inspires people.
Here’s an example:
May we all experience feeling loved in the darkest places within ourselves.
This little clip can bring a lot of traffic to the article it came from.
BVB: What did you have to overcome personally to be so raw and real with your audience?
Charu: I get really scared of being judged. One of my biggest triggers is that someone will misunderstand my message, and therefore misunderstand me.
How I have overcome that is I don’t usually share when I’m right in the middle of something.
For example I’ve had a lot of challenges in my relationship, and I would never share right in the middle of an unsolved challenge. I will wait until there is internal resolution, and then I am not triggered by how its received.
I have a discernment about how I’m sharing.
Also, I often want to read it to at least one person before I hit send. And that gives me an amount of reassurance.
I realize people will love it, they will hate it, and I’m not waiting for it to stop being scary.
BVB: That’s a powerful realization! Thanks for sharing your tip with us Charu, we appreciate it…
