How We “Do Nothing” AND Run a 7-Figure Business

December 28, 2012 Posted by The BVB Team

“Do nothing. Make millions.”

You’ve heard this empty internet marketing promise before, right?

It works…

for no one.

But there is a genuine magic to doing nothing, if you understand it in the right context.

Ayurveda teaches us that there are three modes of activity. You are either in the mode of Rajas – pushing and doing a lot to achieve your goals, you are in Tamas – which is a more disengaged, passive approach, or…

You are in the mode of Sattva… which is “What’s Working Now” for us at BVB.

So what does that look like?

Our Sattvic workspace in beautiful Ojai, nestled in the mountains.

It looks like balance, taking amazing care of ourselves, and having clean, clear communication with each other as a team.

It looks like having a daily meditation practice, and allowing our creative genius to flow from that space of emptiness, when we are engaged and present but simply “not doing anything.”

It’s about people over productivity. We don’t hire to fill a position, we cultivate team members. Everyone is contributing in their “genius zone,” doing what they love and are inclined towards. The business moves forward because each player is inspiration driven and their contribution matters.

Recently, we had a team retreat. We spent 20 hours “working” on our business and here is what we created:

  • Amazing clarity on who our tribe really is. We expanded into areas we haven’t gone before.
  • Our entire product, program and marketing schedule for the upcoming year.
  • 3 powerful live events for 2013.
  • A plan to quadruple the money we make in 2013.
  • Goals that stretch and scare us… including a fabulous team retreat in Bali (or somewhere equally exotic.)
  • New systems of accountability and support for everyone on the team so we can lovingly hold each other to our highest.

The Big Vision Team “hard at work…”

That’s SOME of what we accomplished in the mood of emptying out and allowing wisdom and creativity to pour through.

In the “off time” we got rid of years of emotional and physical toxins in a sweatlodge ceremony together, created a time capsule at a sacred site in Ojai, and just enjoyed BEING together.

The coolest thing that came out of this sweet gathering was our new, more highly refined “Who We Are” as Big Vision Business. We’re sharing it here to invite you to play along with us in 2013 and be the highest, best – most Sattvic version of YOU…

Who We Are & Why We Matter

Big Vision Business is a world-renowned training and coaching company on a mission to empower one million hungry, good-hearted, fantastically weird entrepreneurs and visionaries with the tools, support, and strategy to create businesses that thrive.

We believe business is the perfect vehicle for your transformation and spiritual growth, because it requires you to show up fully, take risks, trust in something greater, speak your truth, and always dig deeper to discover who you are, how you can serve, and why you’re doing it.

Our primary intention is to make sure you know, in every cell of your being, that you matter. Because once you see and feel your own value and presence as deeply as we see it in you; that is when your business will really change our world.

When you interact and engage with us, we want you to know that “you belong.”

Big Vision Business is your home…

…where you can play on all levels of life and be celebrated for your desire to “really go for it.”

Yes, it’s ok to want to make a ton of money and be spiritual. Yes, it’s ok to take risks and follow your intuition, even when it looks insane. And Yes, it’s awesome that you want to put yourself out there and speak up about what’s most real and true to you.

Though everyone around you might think you’re crazy (because it’s true), you belong when you’re here with us.

You belong here with us!

Our commitment to you is depth and honesty. We will always dig a little deeper in ourselves and in our programs to pull out more powerful and genuine ways to serve you and show up as authentic role models.

Though it might not always be what you want to hear, we commit to speaking our truth and doing our best to remain in integrity.

Neither of these commitments are the easy path.

But we see no higher priority than walking our talk and going deep into what’s really true, alive, and real.

It is these unique elements of our company that make us matter: Our mission to serve our tribe deeply, our integration of business and spirituality, our vision to make you feel your value, our caring energy that shows you that you belong, and our commitment to truth, depth, and authenticity.

We are Big Vision Business… and we care… because you matter.

Who are YOU?

It’s so important to take the time to define who you are, at the core.

Take the time to unplug. Find a space where you can be away from your every day environment. Nothing new can unfold if you are staying in the same energy with the same triggers.

It doesn’t matter what it looks like, only that you are not distracted by your iPhone, your emails, your busy work.

What kind of impact do you want to make?

Ask yourself these questions: In what areas am I exceptionally gifted? How can I bring it into the world most powerfully? In what unique ways?

Entrepreneurs struggle and fail because they get the visionary part, but remain only half committed to their dreams. Which gets “halfway” results.

“I am committed to follow through, to growth, to truth.”

Create your own statements. Then, establish daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual commitments. Set up some accountability structures for yourself whether you hire a coach, or create it within your team. Revisit regularly. Keep moving forward. Be a part of a community that cares about you…

We want to know who you are and why you matter!

  1. Thank you for this article. Sounds like the Be Do Have principle. Often we want to Have ( money, place, people) to Do what we want and finally Be (happy, successful, creative). That sounds like inertia. I also see myself falling in the trap of Do (finish my to do list, or work really really hard), to Have (money, time, people pleased with me), to finally Be (powerful, secure, satisfied, etc.). That doesn’t work either. Too passionate and burning me to ashes.

The Sattvic model is Be (who I am, this amazing powerful, creative, trusting, beautiful woman that I am), and Do what naturally flow from my nature in service and purposefully, and receiving all that the universe has to offer to me.

Here is some resources for those of you who would like to know what mode of activities you are under http://www.vedicpersonality.org/

That’s so cool! Thanks for posting that link, that will probably help some people who are curious to learn more about some of these terms they may not be familiar with.

The Be Do Have principle you mentioned does sound like what we are up to. We are being “fun, service, and love,” and therefore creating a business that flows from that space. It’s been a shift for us and we are really starting to see the difference.

    Thanks for stopping by Marie!

    Much Love,

    Max

So deeply inspiring. Thanks Max and everyone at BVB.

Thanks Max for your unfailing positive vision and sharing it with all of us. I so look forward to doing my own necessary work in this area.
