Max’s Famous Green Drink Recipe

December 26, 2012 Posted by Max Simon

In today’s episode, I’d like to give you one of my all time greatest health secrets.

In fact, I’ve probably given this recipe to hundreds in my “insider network” and many of the biggest names in the world still drink this EVERY DAY.

And the best part is that it tastes great, is easy to make, doesn’t require any fancy machinery, and you can pick up most of the ingredients at your local health food store + Amazon.

Taking better care of yourself is one of the most important aspects of being a successful entrepreneur.

Because it’s impossible to show up powerfully and take big bold actions forward when you feel depleted or disconnected.

So enjoy this episode! It’s delicious…

In this episode of The Big Vision Show I’m taking you inside my home.

Hey there, I’m Max Simon and welcome to The Big Vision Show. This is all about how you can reach more people and thrive financially.

Now, in today’s episode we’re going to do something a little different. You see, people always ask me what are my personal routines? What are the extra unique things that I do in order to keep myself really healthy and vibrant and alive so that I can show up fully in my business?

You see, so many people don’t realize that one of the greatest strengths that they have in their business is them. And so if you don’t have the necessary levels of vibrancy, of energy, of clarity, of ability to really show up powerfully it doesn’t really matter how smart or strategic you are – none of it’s going to really land impact-fully in the people you’re trying to serve.

Now if you’re new to my world you’ll know that one of my most famous secrets is my morning green drink, my morning smoothie. And today I figured I would actually take you in my kitchen and we would make one together. You ready? They’re quite delicious and interesting. So here we go.

The first thing that you need is, I like to use nut milks which are non-dairy forms of milk. So this is an organic almond milk; you can use a rice milk, you can use a hemp milk, even soy milk can work for you. So add about half of your cup of almond milk, and I like to use the vanilla one just because it gives it a nice little flavor. And by the way, this little contraption is called a NutriBullet. So it’s like a blender but a little bit smaller and it gives you individual cup sizes. And this little thing just kind of pops off and screws on here.

So fill it half with almond milk. Then I put in a half a frozen banana. So these are fresh bananas that I just throw in the freezer so that you don’t have to use ice cubes. So they’re still pretty much fresh because they’re really just from this week, but they’re frozen so that we don’t have to use any ice cubes and that way you can just use this frozen banana. It gives it a little bit of a sweeter texture. It is a little bit of sugar but natural sugar.

Then we use hemp seeds which are from Nutiva. We like that brand the most. They’re organic and it’s a good company. You can do about half a tablespoon of hemp seeds. These are a great source of protein; they’re also a good flavor. It gives it a kind of nutty, rich flavor to it.

The protein that I use, and I have tested a lot of different proteins, is this Lifetime Life’s Basic Plant Protein, and the reason I use a plant protein is because I know it’s easy to digest and it also doesn’t have a really weird, gritty flavor like a lot of the rice proteins. It also is very easy for your body to absorb. So do a good full scoop of this plant protein, and of course since it’s a green drink it helps that it actually is green.

And then we move into some of the more specialty ingredients. This is a vitamin mineral green by HealthForce SuperFoods, and this is just all sorts of different green supplements and powders and live foods blended together. So I think there’s spirulina and kelp and chlorella and gosh, there’s so much stuff in this. This is probably the greatest source of energy, meaning this will help you feel just more clear-minded, more focused, more alive and it really does feel like you’ve just had a shot of an energy drink.

And then my favorite parts, which is some cacao nibs. These are raw cacao nibs, so you know, what they make chocolate out of. This is the raw bean that they take and then they basically dry it and then chop it up into these little nibs. It gives it good texture and then also cacao is a great source of energy, and then I use some raw cacao powder. Let’s see, I use Navitas as the company and we just buy this on Amazon and they ship it right to our door. And I’ll do maybe a half a tablespoon of cacao powder as well.

Then you just fill it up the rest with water. And if you want to make it extra special, and I didn’t put it out here so I guess I’ll leave it out of this recipe but do like a little half a tablespoon of sunflower butter or almond butter or something like that. It gives it a kind of heavier, meatier texture to it. So let’s blend this baby up, huh?

It’s just about all you need. Now you’ve got a morning green drink and it actually tastes amazing. I have one of these every morning. It’s the perfect way to start your day, giving you tremendous energy, a clear mind and an ability to really go for it and play full out in your days. Oh, so good.

So I hope you enjoyed this episode, and two things for you today: one, if you have a morning recipe or smoothie or juice that you make that’s a favorite of yours, share it below. Hey Max,

The smoothie our family had on Christmas morning is a favourite and pretty simple too.. This is a family size recipe:

    3 frozen bananas,
    2 tbsp raw cacao powder,
    1 tbsp raw mesquite powder,
    Small handful raw cashew nuts
    1 tbsp dark chia seeds
And enough water to create thick smooth, creamy texture:

    Thanks for the tour. :)

    Love and sunshine,

    Kush.

    Hi Max,

–Been making smoothies a loooong time, and while yours looks very delicious, I think the key to great morning smoothies is freshness and variety. In the same way I might not want to do the same yoga stretches every day, I vary according to what’s in the garden, at the farmer’s market, in the fridge or on the counter.

Here’s a typical one (and even my baby ~2 years old loves this):

I begin with fresh fruit, say:

    some berries.
    a banana
possibly something super seasonal like guavas or fuju persimmon

then I might add a few leaves of kale from the garden.

then juice. I like apricot and pineapple, because they’re sweet.

I needn’t say this but everything is strictly ORGANIC.

Or possibly, instead of the juice, I simply use coco water, direct from a coconut or two.
Buy them by the crate for $2/apiece or if in LA, contact me about Dimas, our coco man, who will deliver, cut and ready.

Then vitamineral green or billy’s greens or often both
    And nutiva’s hemp seed protein
and white chia seeds, also from nutiva
For these ingredients, I’m really generous. I just pour about 2-3 tablespoons in…

Blendtec it up on setting #2 and viola! It’s probably the best smoothie you’ve ever tried.

Thanks for inspiring me to write it down. Soon, I’ll post a youtube of my daughter drinking it.
    Her green mustache is hilarious!

    Lots of love, Max,
    Ron

    A few tips:
    1. Use only unsweetened milks. Your drink will get quite sugary, so read those labels!
    2. I like RawMeal by Garden of Life as a protein source. Your smoothie will thicken with time if you use this.
    3. Chew your smoothie. Never gulp. You’ll save your digestive system lots of energy if you chew your smoothie and allow your salivary enzymes to pre-digest it before it hits your stomach.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Max!

I just began doing morning Green Smoothies the past few months to maximize my energy :) I also do half a lemon squeezed into warm water with bit of cayenne pepper.

Unsweetened Almond Milk (6 cartons available at Costco)
Frozen blueberries (I buy package already frozen)
    Couple handfuls of fresh spinach
    Scoop of Protein Powder
    1/2 avocado
To make it a bit sweeter can add tsp of Organic Agave Nectar (Costco).

I do a green drink every morning and am truly addicted. I make enough for two servings in case I want a second dose at night (or if not, I’m set up for AM).

I add as many veggies as possible, esp leafy greens. Anything goes! Kale (of course!), spinach, mustard greens, dandelion greens, collard greens, cabbage, broccoli sprouts (all the nutrients of broccoli!), carrots, celery, cucumber, etc. ll organic. Sometimes add half a banana (not every day, too much sugar), apple, pear, etc. but fruit is unnecessary.

    Hempseed – 3 TBS

Fresh ginger and turmeric (at least 1-2 inches of each)

Greens First (tastes good) or other greens powder

    Maca powder

    Acai powder

Joint Vibrance powder (really does help the joints)

A TBS of unfiltered apple cider vinegar and 1/4 C aloe vera juice

The base can be water and/or coconut water (unflavored for lower sugar content) or even a bit of acai juice

  13. Beet Me UP! Smoothie

    1 medium beet
All of the beet greens (1-2 cups chopped)
    1 celery stalk
    1 banana (frozen or not)
1/2 cup frozen Trader Joe’s Organic Berry Blend
    1 tbs. flax oil
    1 cup coconut mix
Water and ice to preferred texture

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Totally awesome!

  14. Max!! We gotta get you makin some Herbal Tonic Elixirs!!! : ) I’m going to make a video for you to show you what’s up!! (GREAT Smoothie btw!!)
