I’ve read a LOT of books. A lot of books…
But one of the best books I’ve ever read has to be Steve Job’s biography.
It’s interesting. It’s inspiring. And there are some amazing business lessons you can learn from Steve Jobs and this new biography.
Steve Jobs has his own brand of leadership that allowed him to build one of the most revolutionary, most influential companies in history. For this reason alone the book is worth the read.
But from our perspective, as big-vision entrepreneurs, there are other lessons we can use to make ourselves and our businesses stronger.
And if you haven’t read the book already… go get it! I can’t recommend it enough.
That is why this episode of The Big Vision Show is dedicated to the 3 Learning Lessons I’ve personally taken away from Steve Job’s Biography (like how his reality distortion allowed him to be unwavering in his vision).

How Has Steve or Apple Impacted You?
Transcript of this episode:
In this episode of The Big Vision Show, we’re going to talk about what Steve Jobs can share with you about business.
Hi there, my name is Max Simon welcome to The Big Vision Show. This is all about how you can reach more people and thrive financially.
Let me introduce you to a good friend of mine, this is Mr. Steve Jobs. Say Hi Steve. Hi Everybody. I am reading this book right now I am almost through with it; it’s the biography of Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. This is the best book I’ve ever read in my life and I’ve read a lot of books. See all those books back there? I’ve read all those. This book is the most incredible book I’ve ever read and that’s why I’d like to share with you the three things that I’ve really taken away from Steve Jobs from his Biography.
So, if you don’t know the story, one of the things you pick up on very fast from Steve was that he was obsessed with user experience. He meant that every little thing that he created from the computer cable to the packaging to the software had to be designed with you in mind. You know, how do you feel with it? How do you interact with it? What relationship do you have with their products? That obsession is what led to some of the greatest product creations of all time.
The take away for you is to be obsessed with thinking about how your customers and clients will use your products and services. What is it you can do to go that extra little step to make people feel special, appreciated, loved and cared for when they’re interacting with you.
The second great thing I learned from Steve Jobs is to never hold back. Now he had a reputation of being a real asshole. On one side you could say that’s terrible, on another side you could say it’s so incredible that he was completely willing to share his point of view, to step in when he wanted to see things differently, to express himself. He never held back and because of that, even though it pissed a lot of people off, it also inspired some of the greatest products and one of the greatest companies in the world to unfold because it pushed people to step up, to see a vision, to really get things done in a more powerful way. So the take away from that is don’t hold back yourself. If something’s not right, talk about it. If you want something different, voice it. Don’t allow yourself to settle in your business. Be bold and be willing to really speak up so that the business that you have can unfold in a way you really feel good about.
The third point is to believe in reality distortion. You see, Steve Jobs was known for doing something called reality distortion which was he only saw things through his own lens. Anything else that people thought was outside of his bubble, didn’t compute inside of his mind. So if people told him something was impossible, in his reality distortion, he literally got rid of them right on the spot. If people said they couldn’t hit a deadline in his reality distortion, he knew it was possible. He was unwavering with his ability to see things through the lens of how he wanted them to be. And again, as a result of that, it literally created some of the most innovative revolutions in technology ever designed.
So that’s what I learned from Steve Jobs. If you haven’t gone out and got this book, go get it, it is the best book I think I’ve ever read.
So that brings me to my Big Vision Question of the Day, which is: How has Steve Jobs or Apple or their products influenced you? What are some of the lessons that you’ve gotten from Apple or Steve Jobs? How has it impacted your life? Please share your comments below and let everybody know.
