What’s happening, tribe? I’m so grateful you’re here for another episode of The Big Vision Show.
My name is Max Simon and this show is all about taking your big vision and turning it into a living, breathing reality right now. This episode is going to be a little different because so many asked me what it was like to be coached by the one and only John Assaraf.
You know, the guy from The Secret, the bestselling author and the incredible entrepreneur. So, I figured in honor of what an incredible impact this man had on my life, we’d do a whole show about him.
In order to break it down, I figured I’d share with you the three most important things that I got from working with John Assaraf.
Number one, John always told me, “Do what you play at.” What he meant by that, is in business there’s all this stuff to do. There’s your marketing, your sales, your finances, your technology—and I used to be somebody that thought I could do all of it. But John said, “No, no, no, no, no. Do what you play at. Do what you’re really best at, and build a great team of people who does everything else around you.”
Now you might be thinking, “That sounds nice, but I don’t have the resources to hire a bunch of people.” And John taught me that there’s four things you can do around this.
You can pay people. You can barter or trade with them. You can partner with them. Or you can do deferred payment. And when I really took this on in my business, I realized that I could build an incredible group of people around me that did what they were best at, which freed up my time and my energy to do what I’m best at….create funny little videos for you.
Number two—John taught me to set up systems to run the business long term. You see, we’re always so focused on doing things right now, and getting the next thing, the next sale, the next client, the next whatever. And John taught me to step back for a moment, and start to create systems that the business could really grow and expand on its own, without me being so intimately involved in each individual piece.
So what that means is you can set up marketing systems that are constantly marketing for you, like creating videos and webinars. You can build customer support teams that are constantly interacting with your people and making sure they’re happy.
You can build people under you who can run the business instead of you always having to be so intimately involved. So when you do this, it allows you to start seeing how much more leverage, how much more impact, how much more space you have to really grow your vision and make the biggest impact in the world.
And the third thing that John taught, which was a huge surprise, was to be a great student. Every time he had something he wanted to learn, something he wanted to accomplish, some new goal he wanted to achieve, he went to another mentor, another coach, another person in the industry and invested in them and learned from them.
And it was so incredibly humbling to see this man who had such tremendous knowledge and wisdom, constantly investing and showing up for his own learning and growth.
And as I have applied this to my business, what it’s allowed me to do is to get so much more done in less time, to make many less mistakes, and ultimately, get much bigger results with less train, less struggle and less heartache.

So now it’s your turn. What’s some of the greatest things you’ve learned from your mentors? Who have you studied by that’s really touched and inspired your life? I’d love to hear your story and share your comment right below so that everyone else can see who else is out there that they could learn and grow from as well.
And of course, on every show, we let you see what your answers were from last week’s episode when we talked about how do you let go of the stress that you have around making money in your business? Here are the greatest answers from you, the tribe.
Ken Kirby—“Giving brings wealth.” Generosity including a generous state of mind creates wealth in the world.
Victoria Lynne Hannu—“Money as an Excuse.” Money is never the real reason we decide we can’t invest. It’s always something deeper within.
